Azerbaijan Blackmails West

Novruz Mammadov

BAKU—A senior Azeri official told Bloomberg Businessweek that Azerbaijan would rethink what he called its “pro-Western” stance and align itself with “a new bloc” if the West does not amp up its support, especially vis-à-vis the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Azerbaijan wants Europe and the US to pressure Armenia into relinquishing the liberated territories of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

In what was clearly a move to blackmail the West, Novruz Mammadov, head of the presidential office’s foreign-relations department told Bloomberg Businessweek that Azerbaijan had been invited to join another political alliance, without elaborating.

“We aren’t paying attention to those proposals for now. But if it continues like this, we may consider it in five to 10 years. We’re expecting help from the West on the Karabakh issue,” Mammedov told Bloomberg in an interview in Baku.

Mammadov also rebuked Israel for allegedly breaking an agreement to keep a recent $1.6 billion arms deal with Azerbaijan a secret. Israeli defense officials announced the deal earlier this spring, with Azeri officials confirming the reports. The Azeri officials also noted that the weapons would not be used against Iran, as speculated by Western sources, but rather to bolster its abilities against Armenians.

Last month Foreign Policy magazine and other Western media outlets reported that Azerbaijan had turned into an Israeli spy zone and that Baku was allowing Israel to use its airports for possible airstrikes against Iran. Azerbaijan has vehemently rejected that assertion.

“We’re the only secular Muslim nation in the world that’s tied its destiny with the West,” Mammadov told Bloomberg. He estimated that about 35 percent of all NATO supplies to Afghanistan transit Azerbaijan. “But we haven’t seen a positive attitude in return.”

“Iran’s telling us: Why are you selling your oil to the West? You should sever your relations with the U.S. and Israel because they’re our enemies,” Mammadov told Bloomberg.

Does he mean to say that the West should be even more pro-azeri than it already is?
That’s fine, Armenia can simply further strengthen its already close ties with Russia, and add Iran to the mix as well. Armenia’s trade with the economic trade with the US is very low, and we do not need their pity money either, which always come with strings attached.

Positive attitude the West showed to Azeris is holding Armenia back from invading Baku, if the West and the Russians didbt stop us we would of been making shish kabob on the shores of Baku and beleive me it is what it is.

of course. Azeris would naturally follow the TSDB (Turkish School of Diplomatic Bullying) practice. What countries could be inviting Azerbaijan to form an axis?……Which countries are run by a single family, Saudi Arabia comes to mind, along with the Emirates and perhaps the Sultan of Brunei…

The West has been given time to think through their errors,( thank heavens), the Azeri threat will materialize in 5 to 10 years, so the West has time to prevent this alliance of the powerful families from coming to existence.

    Now I can sleep.

Welcome to Turkish Bazar! Mammadov is threatening to bring (once again ) Azerbajijani khanat close to al-Qaeda & Co and Paksitani Talibans

    or
Mammadov is missing Stalin and former politburo of the soviet union, which gifted big portions of historic Armenia to new created Soviet Azerbaijan – the same corrupt politburo which did allow systematic turcification of these territories!

Azerbaijani officials are non-stop aligning Azerbaijani Kahnat with “a new bloc” – Therefore nothing new. Simple periodically this or that Azerbaijan officials use to make announcement after their killer bands did carry out some dirty operations in Armenia or NKR. As if the case with brutally murder of 3 Armenian solders, which were civil and not in duty!
Azerbaijani officials are spending amount of money to create a fake victim image for Azerbaijani Khanat- Now there are disappointed that the strategy didn´t pay off… The same was the case with mentally ill former Libyan leader Gadhafi who even did travel to UN and made stupid speeches – the next is “Azerbaijani president” who is going to lecture UN about humanity, freedom of speech and territorial integrity and so on

The brutally murder of 3 Armenians are similar to the actions of al-Qaeda terror and criminal organization, which has its supports within Pakistani security forces as well within Azerbaijani ruling elite!

I don’t call this a “Blackmailing West” I call it “The Mice is looking for a new hole to hide”.

The Mice in order to keep the West happy had some arm wrestling with Iran, and then started dreaming to get high tech weaponry from Israel to use against Armenians; and in return to allow Israelis to use his air space to attack Iran.

Russia by seeing those plans against his two allies; rolled his Tanks and 250,000 Troops to Mice’s Northern boarders.

The Mice by seeing that recalling the similar situation on 2008 in Georgia; so-called “wetted his pants”; because his friend Mikhail Saakashvili in his S. Ossetia dispute got smashed by Russians; where President Bush (that is West) didn’t even answer his calls.

Now; the Mice is scared because he knows that Obama is deeply involved in his campaign; but he badly needs to read the West’s hand to see if they will back him against Russians, meanwhile he doesn’t want to go against Russians, in other word until last moment he is trying to keep both bridges intact for crossing, that’s why the Mice is hiding behind Novruz Mammadov allowing him to test the “Western Waters” that later if things go sour he could save his own face.

If the Europeans were smart , they would build a trans-mediterranean oil pipelines and bring oil from Algeria to Europe. It would be far better than having to kiss the feet of the Turk and Azeri barbarians.
