Sinanyan campaign hosts city and state elected officials in kick-off celebration for Glendale City Council campaign

GLENDALE—More than 150 people, including Glendale City Council Member Rafi Manoukian, State Assembly Member Adrin Nazarian, GUSD Board Members Greg Krikorian, Nayiri Nahabedian, and Christine Walters joined Zareh Sinanyan to kick-off his campaign to become Glendale’s next City Council Member.

On January 3rd, Sinanyan threw his hat into the Glendale City Council race with a letter to his closest followers. On Sunday afternoon, Sinanyan had the opportunity to speak directly to some of those same supporters, including a dedicated group of young and energized volunteers.

“In the past, I’ve never shun away from a difficult issue or struggle for what’s right,” said Sinanyan. “If you look at my record, you will see what kind of Council Member I will be. I want our families, my kids and your kids, to live in the best Glendale possible.”

State Assembly Member Adrin Nazarian, who spoke to those in attendance, offered some words about his relationships with Sinanyan.

“20 years ago, I had the opportunity to meet Zareh while studying at UCLA,” said State Assembly Member Nazarian. “This is a man that is always dedicated to doing the right thing. I know that Zareh will stand up for the community at large and will represent every member of the third largest city in Los Angeles County.”

Glendale’s Municipal Elections will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd. Voters will have the opportunity to elect three seats on a five member City Council. Sinanyan, a former Parks Commissioner and Chairperson of the Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee, will be facing two incumbents and host of others in what is shaping up to be a hotly contested race.

Zareh Sinanyan attended Burbank High School and has been a resident of Glendale for the past 14-years. Zareh and his wife Lori have four children, the oldest of which currently attends school in the GUSD. Prior to declaring his candidacy for Glendale City Council, Zareh served on the Glendale Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission and more recently as Chairperson of the Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee from 2009 to 2011. Zareh received a Bachelor’s Degree from UCLA in History and Political Science and a Juris Doctorate from USC; he has been a practicing attorney since 2001.
