Book Drive to Boost Armenian Collection in LA Public Library

Book Drive

NORTH HOLLYWOOD—Situated in the middle of North Hollywood, the Valley Plaza Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library houses a modest yet impressive collection of Armenian materials that include classic Armenian books, and DVDs and CDs that reflect all facets of Armenian culture.

To expand the collection and celebrate our rich cultural traditions, Councilmember Paul Krekorian and the library branch have joined forces to organize the Armenian Heritage Book Drive this Saturday, March 2nd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Valley Plaza Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library.

“A world-class city like Los Angeles should never lose sight of its commitment to the quilt of cultures that collectively make us great,” Councilmember Paul Krekorian said. “The goal of this Armenian Heritage Book Drive is to build a collection worthy of Los Angeles that will serve as a resource center for all cultures interested about Armenian literature, books, photography, movies, travel, dance, music, cooking and more. I would encourage everyone to stop by on Saturday and either donate books, CDs or DVDs, or come check out the collection.”

While the effort will be ongoing, this Saturday’s drive will highlight Armenian culture through music, dance, book readings and food.

The Valley Plaza Branch of the Los AngelesPublic Library is located at 12311 Vanowen Street, North Hollywood, 91605.
