Armenian, Russian Officials Discuss Harutiunian Case

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin

MOSCOW—Armenian Ambassador to Russia Oleg Yesayan met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin in Moscow today.

The parties discussed issues concerning bilateral relations and cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

The interlocutors covered the accident in Podolsk, involving Armenian citizen Hrachya Harutiunian, which claimed the lives of 18 people and left more than 30 injured, the Press Service of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The Armenian Ambassador offered his condolences on the tragedy. The Russian side confirmed that an unbiased investigation would be conducted with full respect for the rights of the convict.

The parties expressed concern over the reproachful attempts to speculate on the tragedy and to generate sentiments that run counter to the spirit of Russian-Armenian friendship.

Armenian Human Rights Defender Karen Andreasyan is leaving for Moscow on Sunday, July 21, in connection with Hrachya Harutiunian’s case.

The Ombudsman is expected to meet with Hrachya Harutiunian and discuss the details of the case with his attorneys.

Within the framework of the visit, Karen Adreasyan will meet with a number of officials engaged in the case, representatives of the Armenian community and other concerned persons.

If hatch harutyunian gets a fair hearing and is found at fault, not the faulty old truck, let him serve his term in Armenia. At least in Armenia he can be around his family and we can ensure he gets a psychologist to treat him with his depression and PTSD. He is a war hero and deserves to be around his people.
To the Armenian govt. Please get this right!
