House of Armenia brings together some of the most successful business leaders, philanthropist and community leaders for an elegant evening reception.

GLENDALE—Approximately one hundred leaders and benefactors attended a black tie reception to thank the outgoing Consul General, Grigor Hovhannissian, and welcome the newly appointed Consul General Sergei Sarkisov.

The event featured superb musical performances, a gourmet dining experience and a stunningly elegant setting for guests to enjoy the evening while mingling amongst the leadership of the local Armenian community.

“This community did not want to see Mr. Hovhannisian leave without an appropriate expression of gratitude and best wishes for his assignment as Ambassador of Armenia in Mexico,” said Charlie Ghailian, the Master of ceremonies of the reception.

“We also wanted to welcome Mr. Sarkisov and let him know that the community and House of Armenia are here to support him in his important new mission,” added Ghailian.

The reception was exquisitely organized and hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nadjarian, Los Angeles based philanthropists, whose generosity benefits a wide range of Armenian and non-Armenian cultural and educational projects in the United States and abroad.

“The Nadjarians step forward every time they notice a worthwhile initiative and offer their uncompromising support in order to achieve the best results,” said Vahe Yacoubian, Vice-Chairman of House of Armenia.

“It was an honor to host this important event. Cheryl and I proudly support any initiative that unites the Armenian community,” said Harry Nadjarian.

As the busiest Armenian Consulate in the World, its relocation to the House of Armenia building offers American Armenians who visit the Consulate a wide range of services including, cultural and educational programs.

“Since its establishment, House of Armenia has been utilized extensively for art exhibits, concerts and receptions for visiting civic, cultural and religious representatives from Armenia and the Diaspora. It has also been used extensively by many other local organizations for their cultural and educational programs,” said Sinan Sinanian, Chairman of House of Armenia.

The establishment of House of Armenia coincides with the 20th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia. Since the break-up of the Soviet Union and the reemergence of Armenia as an independent State in 1991, Armenian communities worldwide have been energized and their resources mobilized for the purpose of promoting Armenia’s rich cultural heritage and sharing it with the worldwide community, as well as supporting the homeland and the wellbeing of its citizens.

“House of Armenia is a California registered charitable organization with a 501(c)(3) designation,” said Joseph Kanimian legal counsel to and member of the Board of Directors of House of Armenia. A substantial portion of the purchase price of the House of Armenia has been raised already. The building has also been completely renovated, updated and is technologically equipped. In the coming months, House of Armenia plans to organize fundraisers in order to pay-off the balance of the purchase price and purchase the adjacent properties for the future expansion of the cultural facilities.

House of Armenia is a Los Angeles based initiative with a simple mission: To promote the work of individuals and organizations in advancing the rich cultural heritage of Armenians worldwide. House of Armenia is located in Glendale California, houses the Consulate of the Republic of Armenia and features an art exhibit and recital hall.
