Shushanna Sargsyan Wins Armenian Chess Championship

YEREVAN (Armenpress)—Shushanna Sargsyan was announced the winner of the 69th Women’s Chess Championship of Armenia on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Armenpress reports that the chess player hailing from Vayk shared the points in the last round with the former champion Anna Hayrapetyan. Siranush Ghukasyan beat Armine Babayan, while Susanna Gaboyan beat Anahit Gevorgyan in the other games.

At the end of the last round, three chess players tied at 7 points each, and the winner was decided by the number of pieces still in play at the end of the game. Shushanna Sargsyan was announced the winner. Maria Gevorgyan and Siranush Ghukasyan shared second and third places respectively.
