STEPANAKERT—On Monday, President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Bako Sahakian met with the director of Yerevan’s Mesrop Mashtots Institute for Ancient Manuscripts, known as the Matenadaran, Hrachya Tamrazian, and architect Arthur Meschian, the President’s press office reported.
The meeting discussed a potential plan for building a Matenadaran in Artsakh and a long-awaited plan to rebuild Stepanakert’s Vahram Papazian Drama Theater.
Sahakian said the Metenadaran’s assistance is crucial in establishing a similar institution in Artsakh, noting that such an institution would substantially contribute to the study and the preservation of Artsakh’s history.
Architect Arthur Meschyan introduced to the President the project of capital reconstruction of the Stepanakert Dramatic Theater building.
Arthur Meschian introduced a proposed preliminary plan for the reconstruction of the Vahram Papazian Drama Theater building. According to President Sahakian, the theater building is a cultural center for the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and should be rebuilt according to contemporary standards.
Let’s get Stepanakert to be an official and integral part of an independent Armenia before envisioning anything else.
