GLENDALE—Leaders of the Armenian religious denominations, the three political parties and the main Armenian relief organizations issued a joint announcement Tuesday pledging their united support for the Armenians of Kessab who came under attack late last week by Al-Qaeda militants who entered the border town from Turkey. Below is the text of the announcement:
The Armenians of Western United States condemn the attacks, aided and abetted by Turkey, on the Armenian-populated town of Kessab and deem the forced evacuation of the population from the area unacceptable. The community demands that the White House and world governments take decisive steps to drive out the militants from Kessab and facilitate the safe return of residents to their homes.
Our community pledges its complete solidarity with all Syrian-Armenians, especially the Armenians of Kessab, guaranteeing that it will continue to seek all available avenues without sparing any effort to ensure their survival.
The leaders of the Armenian community and organizations mentioned below met and discussed ways to provide immediate and long-term assistance and support and reasserted their commitment to aid Syrian-Armenians. It was decided to call on the Syrian-Armenian Relief Fund (SARF) to continue its indispensable fundraising activities for the Syrian Armenians in general, and specifically for the needs of Kessab Armenians. We are confident that these efforts will be supported by the community.

I hope and pray for their safety, and hope they will eventually return to their homes. Though it is tragic, this helplessness is once again indicative of the fact that we have not learned our lesson, even 100 years after the genocide, and that is that Armenians cannot rely on anyone but themselves and their own country to defend their interests.
Once again, we find ourselves powerless due to our inability to make something of our country and play it smart; we can’t seem to put heads together and work for the common good. A stronger, safer and more independent Armenia could have possibly prevented this, and would have given refugee Armenians a place to stay, a roof over their head, a steady job and a promising future. An Armenia that is decaying at its core due to bad leadership and corruption makes not just the Armenians of Armenia, but each and every single Armenian in the world, vulnerable.
Armenia’s public support of Russia on the Crimean issue has boomeranged and hit us hard in Kessab.
This was bound to happen. In order to restrain Putin, the West is undoubtedly going to get more aggressive in Syria. They’re going to make sure that Putin pays dearly for thumbing his nose at the West. The battle for taking over the Tartus naval base has most likely begun.
We get hit 3 ways.
1. We’re in the way of the fighting in Alawite districts
2. We get punished for supporting Assad
3. We get punished for supporting Russia (Assad’s sponsor)
Stop trying to make excuses for nato, the us, the eu and the terrorists they control in Syria by blaming the actions of those war criminals on Armenia and on Russia, you self-hating freak.
