Baku Denies Entry to Head of French Delegation

BAKU—The consular authorities of Azerbaijan have denied an entry visa to René Rouquet, Member of the French National Assembly.

“The consular authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan refused to grant me a visa. Although I am the head of the French delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and, and Vice President of the same institution, I will not participate in the meetings of the Standing Committee and the Office of the PACE that will take place Thursday and Friday in Baku,” Mr. Rouquet said in a statement.

René Rouquet is a member of the “Circle of Friendship” with the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. He has on many occasions called for recognition of Artsakh’s independence.
