BAKU—Organizers of the forthcoming European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, being held in Baku, have asked the Belarusian team to refrain from playing music by Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian, head coach of the Belarusian team Irina Laperskaya told a press conference in Minsk.
According to Laperskaya, the team, which has been performing to Kachaturuan’s “Sabre Dance” for half a year, has to now train for a different routine, accompanied by a different piece of music.
The coach said this has been the reason behind the team’s unsuccessful performances in the latest competitions.
The 30th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will take place in Baku from June 13 to 15.
Turkish Athlete with ‘Armenian’ Surname Barred from Entering Azerbaijan
A Turkish arm-wrestler has reportedly been barred from entering Azerbaijan and participating in a major competition there because of his last name which Azerbaijani immigration authorities felt is Armenian, RFE/RL’s Armenian service (Azatutyun.am) reported.
Zafer Noyan, a 24-year-old resident of the Turkish city of Diarbekir (Dikranagerd), flew to Baku last week to compete in the 2014 European Armwrestling Championship along with other members of Turkey’s national team.
Several Turkish news services reported on Thursday that immigration officers at Baku airport told Noyan that he cannot enter the country because they believe he is an ethnic Armenian. They said the young athlete was put on another plane and flown back to Istanbul despite his assurances that his surname and ethnic origin are not Armenian.
It is not clear whether the Turkish team managers or the European Armwrestling Federation protested against Noyan’s expulsion.
The Azerbaijani authorities have long banned Armenian nationals and ethnic Armenian citizens of third countries, including Turkey, from travelling to Azerbaijan. They consider any Armenian presence in the country an affront to its honor and the memory of Azerbaijanis killed in the unresolved conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
This is called “inknasirutsyun”… although it is fanatic and maniacal, this is something our beloved feux-Armenians who spend day and night singing eloquent songs of admiration, calling for the “protection” of a non-existent “Orthodox brotherhood”, and trying to justify the actions of Russia, Putin and that government’s unapologetically destructive distribution of arms sales to these very people, could learn from.
Your comment has nothing to do whatsoever with this post. The words “Putin”, “Russia”, and “arms sales” are not even mentioned in this article. Your comments are very funny. I encourage you with all honesty to keep it up.

Shameless, disgusting cases of Goebelsian-style ethnophobia. All those sport authorities in Europe… They haven’t reacted yet, have they? Don’t they have dignity?
Thhis stuff’s too bizarre to even qualify as farce!
This is great news. Next, Turkey’s step sister needs to ban other Armenian cultural products, like carpets and carpet making, wine and foods like luleh kebabs and dolma and keshkek and others, and get rid of it’s MiG warplanes bearing an Armenian name, and also illegalize hundreds if not thousands of Turkish words borrowed from Armenian. Next stop playing the Armenian Duduk and calling it “Ney” as well as the stolen Armenian song “Sari Gelin” – supposedly “Azerbaijan’s national song”. You also need to execute or behead any Azeri who committed treason and stabbed your “country” in the back by singing these Armenian songs. Hurry up and do this all you warriors of Chingiz, you need to purify your “culture” (whatever that may be).
As if they ever listen to it….
Azerbiajn is on it’s way to stone age
They can ban it all they like – that’s their loss not ours!!! I wish I could attach an mp3 of sabre dance to this note!!!!
May the Axebaijani sultan long live for providing the world with enough idiocy & discrediting his country which is always a plus for us.
