Sarkisian Meets with Top Armenian Diplomats

Armenia's top diplomats and Foreign Affairs Ministry representatives meet with President Serzh Sarkisian in Yerevan


YEREVAN (ArmRadio)—Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian held a meeting on Monday in Yerevan with the leadership of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the heads of Armenian diplomatic representations abroad. The President spoke about what he deemed the most urgent issues on Armenia’s domestic and foreign policy agenda.

Sarkisian presented the current level of Armenia’s relations with partner countries and spoke about future perspectives. He referred to the process of the settlement of the Karabakh issue in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship and the situation 20 years after the establishment of the ceasefire. The President emphasized the role of diplomacy in the process and attached importance to the everyday work of every diplomat present at the meeting.

The President spoke about the need to unite the efforts of all Armenians to organize the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on a proper level.

The President touched upon regional issues, Armenia-Turkey relations, the process of Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union and economic relations in this context.

President Sarkisian attached importance to the support to Syrian Armenians and hailed the activity of the Armenian Embassy and the Consulate General in Syria.

He stressed the importance of Armenia’s cooperation with the European Union and the continuous development and reinforcement of bilateral relations with EU member states.

On Saturday Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakian received representatives from the Armenian Foreign Ministry and diplomatic corps headed by foreign minister Edward Nalbandian.

Karabakh conflict settlement, other directions of Artsakh’s foreign policy, as well as the socioeconomic situation in the Karabakh were on the agenda of the meeting.

The President stressed the significance of such meetings, underlining that they offered opportunities to discuss various foreign policy issues, outline ways to solve them with joint efforts.
