Lithuanian lawakers meet with Artsakh President Bako Sahakian and other officials

STEPANAKERT—Artsakh President Bako Sahakian on Wednesday received members of a Lithuania-Artsakh parliamentary friendship group, led by Lithuanian Member of Parliament Dalia Kuodytė.

Issues related to Artsakh-Lithuania relations, the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict, and other regional issues were discussed during the meeting.

President Sahakian stressed the importance of the formation of the Lithuania-Artsakh Parliamentary Friendship Group from both political and moral viewpoints, considering it a “manifestation of sincere friendship and respect for the norms of international law.”

The parliamentary group was formed in February of 2013, when a conference entitled “Lithuania and Armenia: A Look to the Recent Past,” dedicated to the 25 anniversary of the democratic movements in Armenia and Lithuania and the National liberation struggle of the Armenians of Artsakh, took place in the Lithuanian Parliament.

Artsakh’s Foreign Minister Karen Mirzoyan was invited as a special guest of the conference and delivered a speech where he noted that the movements of the national revival that united the Armenian and Lithuanian peoples around common ideals and principles of freedom and democracy have resulted in independence.
