Armenian Beats Azeri to Win World Arm Wrestling Championship

VILNIUS, Lithuanian—Armenian arm wrestler Ashot Adamyan in the final round of a world championship match in the 60 kilogram category, beat his Azerbaijani rival Qismat Vakilov to win the world championship.

David Nersisyan, competing in the 75 kilogram category, who also represented Armenia, was very close to victory after qualifying for the semi-finals, but his two defeats in the matches pushed him back to the fourth place.

    Poor Qismat Vakilov, he showed good effort but now that he has “lost to an Armenian” he will be unwelcome in his home country and probably cast off to work in one if Alieyev’s gulags simply because he was beat by an Armenian.
