YEREVAN (Arka)—The tenth DigiTec Expo 2014 opened Friday at the Yerevan-Expo Exhibition Complex. The trade show features representatives from the tech industry in Armenia and the region. DigiTec Expo is the largest event in Armenia’s technology industry.

Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian was present at the opening of the three-day event and spoke to its participants.

Karen Vardanyan, executive director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), one of the organizers of the event, told journalists that 150 companies are taking part at DigiTec Expo 2014. Of them, 120 are presenting their own products. This year’s DigiTec Expo is projected to host some 30,000 visitors.

Vardanyan said that this international technology exhibition is one of the best platforms for professional orientation. The most modern solutions and technological education methods are presented here.

“DigiTec is also an opportunity to keep the finger on the pulse and to be in touch with technological innovations, since every year technology companies try to add something new,” he said.

Vardanyan said that this year DigiTec is concentrating its focus on children and young people. A “Robotics in Daily Life” contest and a “Hackathon” program are being held as part of the event.

A job fair is also set to take place, with tech firms offering open employment positions.

The UITE was established in 2000 to protect IT companies’ interests, promote business development, and encourage studies in IT. Today, dozens of companies are members in the Union.
