Armenia Will Compete in 2015 European Games in Baku

The first European Games will be hosted in Baku in 2015

BANGKOK, Thailand—The head of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) says Armenia will take part in the inaugural European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, next year, despite the ongoing conflict between the neighboring countries, the Associated Press reports.

EOC chief Patrick Hickey, along with International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach, met Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian last month.

Hickey said Wednesday, “all the problems were solved,” and, “they have agreed to participate in the games next year, and they will come to our general assembly in Baku in two weeks’ time.”

Hickey, speaking at a meeting of the Association of National Olympic Committees in Bangkok, also said Kosovo will compete as an independent nation in Baku if granted full recognition by the IOC next month.

It won’t, which doesn’t matter because this is some seriously irrelevant shit.

What safety warranties Armenia has? Shouldn’t go until Azerbaijan recognizes free Karabakh.

Azerebaijian will assure everyone and promise anything to secure the games and its prestige. However, No matter how well intention-ed these security assurances may be, the truth is that after years of hateful propaganda, no one can control a determined insane killer. Shades of the Munich Olympics. It’s just too dangerous.
