ANCA-WR to Host Unprecedented Advocacy Day in Sacramento

ANCA-WR will host its Advocacy Day on April 20, 2015.

GLENDALE—After an unprecedented legislative year in 2014 for the Armenian American community, activists from across California will join the Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region (ANCA-WR) and the California State Legislature in commemorating the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide at the State Capitol in Sacramento on Monday, April 20, 2015. The day’s activities will include Genocide commemorative events, meeting opportunities with state legislatures, and a powerful Rotunda art exhibit commemorating the Centennial.

“Advocacy Day offers our community members a unique opportunity to be civically engaged and to promote issues of concern before elected officials,” said Armen Garabedian, ANCA-WR Chair of the Government Affairs Committee. The annual event has played a significant role in the state’s continual commitment towards justice for the Armenian Genocide in the State Assembly and Senate Chambers. This year’s Advocacy Day will center around “100 Years of Survival.”

Historically, Advocacy Day has attracted hundreds of activists from across California and has served as an important opportunity to educate, motivate and activate advocates on the legislative process as well as issues that will impact Armenian Americans living in the Golden State. Visit www.ANCAWR.org/AdvocacyDay to register. Pricing of $60 for adults and $40 for students includes lodging and transportation. For more information about Advocacy Day, visit www.ancawr.org, email CAstate@ancawr.org or call (818) 500-1918.

The Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region is the largest and most influential Armenian American grassroots advocacy organization in the Western United States. Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the Western United States and affiliated organizations around the country, the ANCA-WR advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues.
