Turkish Foreign Minister Reiterates Conditions for Opening Border

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu

ANKARA (PanArmenian.net)—Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu reiterated on Friday the pre-conditions Ankara has set forth for normalizing ties with Armenia.

Mevlut Cavusoglu, in an interview with Sabah, pointed out one of these conditions, saying, “To normalize ties with Ankara, Yerevan must cede Karabakh territories.”

Armenia’s President Serzh Sarkisian addressed a letter to the National Assembly speaker Galust Sahakyan on Feb. 16 requesting the recall of the Armenian-Turkish protocols from the parliament’s agenda, the protocols being the agreement that aimed to normalize relations between the two countries.

The presidential letter read: “At the outset of the process of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish ties without preconditions, we were in full realization of all possible scenarios. We were similarly ready for comprehensive rapprochement through ratification of the protocols and their failure. We had nothing to conceal, as it would become clear to the international community which party was guilty of missing the chance to open the last closed border in Europe.”

In his letter, the Armenian leader also criticized the Turkish leadership over absence of political will, distortion of the essence of the protocols and attempts to lay down conditions, as well as intensified policy of denial ahead of the Armenian Genocide centennial.

“I repeatedly stated that we don’t have unlimited time for ratification of protocols. I regret that the message was left unheard by the Turkish leadership,” Sarkisian concluded.

Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke about the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, and again pointed to preconditions.

And for Armenia to normalize ties with Turkey -Turkey must return western Armenia- aka Wilsonian Armenia

    Dear Foreign minister of Turkey
Yes, we will accept your offer regarding ceding of Karabakh territories. However, first things come first. Before getting serious, Turkey should cede to us Armenian Nation, the territories of Kars, Ardahan, repair City of Ani’s 1001 churches, and we will invite you in the largest church to sign the agreement ON YOUR KNEES, with one of the grandchildren of terrible Turkish massacres. Deadline April 24 , 2015, other wise nil and void

Turkey needs to reopen the border more than Armenia does. Now that this border has been closed for a long time, Armenia should demand that the Wilsonian border be properly honored.

We must, in one way or the other, bring these belligerent and scavenging Turkish hyenas down to their knees. We must defeat and give these Central Asian wild dogs a bitter taste of their own medicine. They have not changed in a thousand years and they never will. These uncivilized and culture-less Turkish Mongol SOB mutts only understand the language of force and that’s exactly how they should be dealt with. We need nuclear weapons !

Turkey has nothing to lose by dragging their feet and setting preconditions. The international community is not, and will not, put any pressure on them to find a solution to the impasse. Therefore, it is in our best interest to completely void the protocols and walk away with dignity. We realize that the economic impact of a closed border is to our detriment, but it is plain useless to normalize ties with a partner who still denies the genocide as historical fact. Our dignity is much more valuable than from any benefit that might come with normalization.

NO Thanks, Armenia is better off with a closed border than a half deal open border, NO recognition of Armenian Genocide, NO open borders, that simple. Armenians can wait, the more time goes by the more Turkey’s name WORLWIDE will dip in the sht, once Turkey joins the civilized world, Turkey’s population will have to face the shame outside of their borders. Armenians survived thousends of years and can wait little more, it is Turkey that can’t wait, Armenians all they need is to be patient,
