ANKARA—Access to ArmenianGenocide100.org, created ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, has been blocked by several Internet service providers in Turkey, Armenpress reports. One Turkish provider, TTnet, has blocked access to the website for its users without any warning or a court decision.
Speaking to Armenpress, Levent Sensever, a representative of Turkish human rights group DurDe, said: “TTnet is likely to be censoring due to Turkey’s state policy of denial of the Armenian Genocide. This block is definitely an illegal act violating freedom of speech and access to information. As representatives of the DurDe platform that has always been against the Turkish government’s policies aimed at denying the Armenian Genocide, we are also against such censorship and the violation of the right to access information. As the fundamental principles of democracy dictate, we demand an end to such censorship,” Sensever said.
Deny, deny, deny
If you can’t win on the merits of your arguments, deny…
This reinforces the fact that the Genocide did happen. By blocking this website, they are doing all decent people a favor.
