MOSCOW, YEREVAN–Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend ceremonies marking 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the Kremlin reported Thursday.
“Yes, he will fly to Yerevan,” Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Agence France Presse, adding the Russian leader had discussed the issue with his President Serzh Sarkisian by telephone on Thursday.
Sarkisian and Putin also discussed key elements of Armenian-Russian partnership and exchanged views on further development of integration processes as part of Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, the Armenian President’s press service reported.
The two also touched on peaceful nuclear energy and oil and gas industry.
Sarkisian also said he would participate in event marking the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
“Sarkisian and Putin also discussed key elements of Armenian-Russian partnership and exchanged views on further development of integration processes…..”
What more integration is necessary? We’re already an oblast. We’re suffering the economic sanctions equally with our mentor. Tsar Putin is merely visiting one of his outposts.
President Obama must be there hopefully.
I wonder what the russophobes have to say… lol
Thank You.
Putin deserves our respect. He will attend the genocide centennial. That means he respects us Armenians. Hayer!!! We need to recognize Putin as a friend of the Armenian people.
Pres. Obama should learn from Pres. Putin, he should bite the bullet and visit Armenia on April 24, shake hands with Putin and agree to reduce tensions worldwide, and copmromise to find solutions to their difference peacefully, with fairness and justice. Armenia is the right pilot country to try.
God bless this man. He is one of the greatest leaders that has ever lived.
