LOS ANGELES—During its annual award ceremony Satruday at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Master Hall of Fame, a leading organization dedicated to recognizing excellence in martial arts, inducted Shihan Mihran Aghvinian into its ranks for advancement of sport

An active member of the Armenian community in Los Angeles, Aghvinian is the founder of the Armenian mixed martial arts style, known as Hye Katch Do. For more than a decade, Aghvinian has thought the Hye Katch Do style to hundreds of young Armenians through classes in Glendale, Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley and instilled in his students the mental and physical discipline that is emblematic to martial arts.

Aghvinian, who was born in Germany in 1962, has been an avid martial artist since 1970, earning several degrees of black belts in the various martial arts disciplines, including judo, karate, Krav Maga and Hye Katch Do.

He is the founder and president of the Armenian Martial Arts Coalition, as well as the president of World Karate and Kickboxing Coalition of Armenia.

He has trained in the German, Norwegian and Danish militaries, and is also trained air marshal and anti-terror air personnel. Aghvinian has also trained bodyguards and security firm employees in Los Angeles and Germany.

Aghvinian noted in a Facebook post that he is dedicating this award to his son, Chiraz, who passed away in a tragic accident several years ago.

The Masters Hall of Fame was founded in 1999 and is recognized as one of the premier Martial Arts events on the West Coast. The association recognizes exceptional Martial Arts Leaders and Legends through induction into the Masters Hall of Fame. Honorees are chosen for their dedication to the martial arts and work in the community, as well as their individual successes.
