STEPANAKERT (ArmInfo)—David Babayan, spokesman for the President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, has said that if Azerbaijan wants Armenian forces to liberate even more historical Armenian lands, it can resume its military operations in the Karabakh conflict zone.
Speaking to ArmInfo, Babayan responded to questions regarding Azerbaijani defense minister Zakir Hasanov’s recent comments on Azerbaijan’s intention, “to liberate Azerbaijani lands,” in the near future.
Babayan says that Hasanov has serious “psychological problems.”
“Armenophobia, fascism and nationalism ruin the soul of that man. However, he should think about the serious losses the resumption of military actions will result in. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people will fall victims to those actions. But he does not think of those people, because he will be sitting in Baku and managing the military activities from Baku. If Azerbaijan wants to lose even more lands, let it perform that task,” Babayan said.
To note, Zakarov recently said while visiting a military unit of the Azerbaijani armed forces that Azerbaijan has but one goal: “To liberate our lands from the occupants within a short time.”
“The Azeri people and the supreme commander-in-chief also demand this. The armed forces should exert all efforts to perform that task. I’d like to assure the supreme commander-in-chief and our people that the armed forces are ready to perform that task successfully within a short time,” Zakarov said.
