(Public Radio of Armenia)—Actor and human rights advocate George Clooney has reaffirmed the historical truth about the Armenian Genocide, saying, “There was a genocide of Armenians in 1915. There’s no argument about it,” in an interview with The Frame.

“Now, history has changed and the Turks don’t want to talk about it anymore. And because we have military bases in [Turkey], suddenly those same politicians who before could say, ‘Yes, there was a genocide,’ can’t talk about it now. You can’t call it that,” the actor said.

Clooney added: “I’ve had conversations with senators where I’ll say, ‘Can we talk about the Armenian Genocide?’ and they’ll say, ‘Absolutely not, because Turkey is our partner in the war on terror.’”

He added, however, that he can give plenty of examples of politicians who would talk about the Armenian Genocide. “They would talk about it as a reality, which of course it is.”

On March 10, Clooney joined humanitarian leaders to launch a new global prize, the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, as part of the 100 LIVES initiative.

Clooney’s wife Amal recently represented Armenia at the European Court of Human Rights in an Armenian Genocide denial case.

Turkey & USA are indeed partners on War on Terror, they activley arm, train & supply isis and other terror groups.
Turkey just bombed Kurdish YPG positions in Syria, these Kurds are the only ones fighting isis, and yet the so called partner of USA Turkey is now openly supporting isis and bombing YPG positions.
Now thats what I call supporting terror

As the granddaughter of a survivor of the Armenian Genocide (my maternal grandmother Mary Mugerian) I am grateful and heartened that George and Amal Clooney have the courage to speak to the truth of what happened to the Armenians in 1915. Should serendipity conspire for me to cross paths with either one of them, I would shake their hands and extend a blessing to them that their descendants will follow suit in bravely speaking for the truth in their generation

You know Mr. Clooney, you could pass for Armenian! You somewhat resemble my late Uncle Sam Mugerian. Thanks again to both you and Mrs. Clooney for your advocacy of the truth.****Michele Hurtado de Mugerian
