YEREVAN (Civilnet)—One of the most iconic photo of the #ElectricYerevan protests has landed a spot in Reuters’ 2015 Pictures of the Year.

Captured by Vahram Baghdasaryan of PHOTOLURE News Agency, it embodies the spirit and strength of civil society in defiance of police brutality.

Baghdasaryan’s photo has been featured in many international publications such as The Guardian, Business Insider, Hurriyet Daily News, The Moscow Times, AzVision, Georgia Today and Ukrainian Focus.

    This photo is a complete insult to both the Armenian police and specially the Armenian demonstrator for civil liberties in general, because they represented much better class and vision than pictured here. In fact, it only feeds ammunition to our enemies’ weaponry…
    No wonder why, Hurriyet, AzVision and other interested parties-“international” publications featured it, when there were hundreds of really inspiring photos of the “Electric Yerevan” movement that should have qualified instead.
