GLENDALE – Ardy Kassakhian announced on April 26 that President pro Tempore of the State Senate Kevin de León has endorsed his campaign for Assembly District 43. The first Latino elected President pro Tempore of the California State Senate in more than 130 years, Senator De León served in the State Assembly from 2006-2010 before being elected to the State Senate. Senator De León represents the Los Angeles communities of Atwater Village, East Hollywood, Los Feliz, and Silver Lake that fall into Assembly District 43.

Senator Kevin de León joins a large group of current and former members of the state legislature who have endorsed Ardy Kassakhian, including Assembly Speaker Emeritus John A. Pérez, Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon, Assemblymember Jackie Goldberg (ret.) and two former Assemblymembers who represented District 43: former Majority Leader Dario Frommer and Los Angeles City Councilmember Paul Krekorian.

“I’m very proud to endorse Ardy Kassakhian for State Assembly, because I’m certain he will be a thoughtful legislator and a vocal advocate for the residents of District 43,” said President pro Tempore of the State Senate Kevin de León. “From fighting to keep film and television jobs in California to ensuring that our teachers have the resources they need to educate our next generation, Ardy is committed to making our state great. I look forward to working with him when he’s in Sacramento.”

The official candidate of the California Labor Federation, Ardy Kassakhian has demonstrated broad community support. Since launching his campaign last year, he has raised more than $470,000 and received endorsements from State Treasurer John Chiang, Secretary of State Alex Padilla, State Superintendent of Instruction Tom Torlakson, and Congressman Brad Sherman.
