YEREVAN (Mediamax)—A delegation of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee staff visited the 3rd Army Corps of Armenian Defense Ministry on July 21.
Members of the delegation had a meeting with Armenia’s First Deputy Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan and the command staff of the Corps.
The meeting included a presentation of the current situation at the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, frequency of ceasefire violations made by the Azerbaijani side, and its consequences.
In Tavush Marz, the U.S. delegation had meetings with Governor Hovik Abovyan and the administration of the border communities, who presented the impact that ceasefire violation has on the daily life of civil population in those communities, regarding the safety of civilians, implementation of agricultural works and use of infrastructure.
The delegation of the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services staff also visited the training center of the Peacekeeping Brigade of Armenian Defense Ministry.
