Chamlian School Vice-Principal Awarded Western Prelacy ‘St. Ashkhen’ Medal

GLENDALE—The last of commencement ceremonies of Prelacy Schools took place at Glendale High School Auditorium, with the 8th grade graduation of Vahan and Anoush Chamlian School. Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian was in attendance, and conveyed his message. He was joined by Archpriest Vazken Atmajian, Archpriest Gomidas Torossian, Executive Council member George Chorbajian, and Board of Regents member Sarkis Ourfalian.

During the ceremony, alongside the highlight presentation of diplomas to the graduating students, the administration honored three retiring educators for their decades of meritorious devoted service to the school. Honorees included: Vice-Principal Rita Kaprielian, Math Department Chair Arshak Ghaloosian, and ASL Teacher Arda Sosikian. The recipients received plaques and certificates of commendation from the Board of Regents, Chamlian School, St. Mary’s Church, and the Glendale ANCA.

Following Principal Dr. Talin Kargodorian’s address, the Prelate conveyed his message congratulating the graduates and their families. He also commended the faculty and, in particular, the evening’s honorees. Thereafter, the Prelate awarded the Prelacy’s “St. Ashkhen the Queen” Medal to Mrs. Kaprielian in honor of her forty-plus years of service to the Armenian Church, Armenian School, and to community life.

Archbishop Mardirossian’s certificate of commendation was read by Archpriest Torossian, in which the Prelate praised Kaprielian’s worthy mission and selfless service as an esteemed educator in Lebanon and the United States, sowing the seeds of love toward our religious and national heritage in the hearts of generations of Armenian youth. The Prelate also commended Kaprielian’s volunteer service to the Holy See of Cilicia as a member of various committees within the Catholicosate, Chair of the Armenian Church University Students’ Association, and participation in the Middle East and World Council of Churches, and to our Prelacy through her membership on various committees.

The Prelate presented the medal to Kaprielian and conveyed his blessings and congratulations.
