ATHENSMembers of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Youth Organization of Greece met with representatives of several youth organizations of Greek political parties Sunday to discuss several issues ranging from the situation in Armenia to Western oil interests in Azerbaijan.
The ARF Youth members outlined developmen’s in Armenia’since last September’s presidential elections and addressed several factors surrounding the current negotiations for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The delegation also discussed the political consequences of Azeri oil excavation and distribution stressing the effects of the entire Transcaucasus region.
The Greek party representatives also expressed deep concern over the aforementioned issues–especially the political–social and economic situation in Armenia.
The Greek delegation–once again–expressed its support for the Armenian Cause and praised the ARF Youth Organization for its efforts and activities.
The two groups reiterated their commitment to preserving ties with one another and outlined steps for further cooperation and enhancement of relations between the organizations.
In the past the ARF Youth Organization of Greece and the youth chapters of the several major political parties in Greece have cooperated on presenting a resolution to the Greek parliament and the United Nations representation in Greece condemning the 1915 Armenian Genocide.
The youth groups have also worked together in issuing an announcement following the illegal suspension of ARF activities in Armenia and the indifference toward human rights in the republic.
