YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan) – The prospective plan of Armenia’s railroad development provides for the construction of new railroad lines connecting Armenia with Georgia and Iran. One of the planned railroad lines is between Gagarin-Gavar-Jermouk-Sissian-Kapan-Meghri-Metand (Iran). Under the technical and economic project developed by the "Armgosproject" the construction of the line will cost $ 909.3 million.
A new railroad line connecting northern regions of Armenia with Georgian sea ports Poti and Batoumi is also planned. According to the same source–it is planned to construct a high-speed stretch of up to 150 km/h between Yerevan and Gumri.
