Defendant Denies Manoukian’s Initiation of Parliament Entry

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan) – During the Friday session of the "September 25" trial–defendant Seyran Massoyan denied allegations of Vazgen Manoukian’s involvement in the storming of the National Assembly. Massoyan rejected preliminary testimony asserting that he was dictated his testimony by justice ministry investigators.

Massoyan told the court of the violent torture to which he was subjected during the first two days of detention–before being transferred to Noubarashan prison. Defense attorney Gayaneh Galoyan submitted documen’s attesting to Massoyan’s history in the Karabakh Defense Army–and his participation in the liberation of Kichan–Srkhavend–Jraberd and other villages. The document was added to case files.

Massoyan also told the court of investigators threats to rape his fiancee if dictated testimony was not signed by the defendant.

Attorney Rouben Sahakian asked the court for permission to meet with his client Argishti Kivirian before the defendant begins testimony. The judge complied with the request and adjourned proceedings until March 18.
