CIS Foreign Ministers Council Meets in Moscow

MOSCOW (Itar-Tass)–The meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)–which opened in Moscow Thursday–is scheduled to draw up an agenda for the meeting of the CIS Heads of Government and Heads of State Councils. The Council is also discussing problems linked with the integration processes within the CIS. It is working on documen’s designed to promote relations among the CIS law enforcement bodies–to settle regional conflicts–to carry out peacemaking operations and to improve the work of various CIS bodies. The council will probably exchange views on the situation in the Central Asian region and discuss the problem of Russian weapons delivery to Armenia. According to tradition–the meeting of the foreign ministers is being attended by members of the Prosecutor-Generals Coordination Council and by members of the Interior and Defense Ministers Councils. The Prosecutor-Generals Council will continue to discuss a draft concept for the Commonwealth’s economic integration development–which will be drawn up as a long-term strategic document. The heads of government will discuss several economic–humanitarian and legal agreemen’s. The meeting of the Heads of the State Council–which is to be held Friday–will discuss the results of the past five years of the Commonwealth’s work and the prospects for its further development.
