Kocharian Takes A Hard Stand on Tax Evaders

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–It is necessary to strengthen the struggle against shadow structures and their patrons–Prime Minister Robert Kocharian said at a meeting devoted to issues of tax collection. The people of Armenia–for the sake of a healthy economy–must know and recognize those entities–which do not fulfill their duties as tax payers and also those who refuse to pay their workers salaries and wages. Kocharian–who is not satisfied with the tax collection status in Armenia–instructed his staff to begin a systematic collection process as early as the end of March. The prime minister noted that very strict measures will be taken to ensure the timely collections all owed taxes. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Levon Barkhoudarian–National Security and Interior Minister Serge Sargssian–Head of Tax Collection Department Artashes Toumanian and the Head of the Customs Department Levon Khanoyan.
