Ter Petrosyan Yeltsin Meet in Moscow

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Levon Ter-Petrosyan met with Russian President–Boris Yeltsin Saturday to discuss the problems associated with regional policy. On the previous day–Ter-Petrosyan met with Russian Foreign Minister Yevgeni Primakov and Azerbaijan’s President Gaidar Aliyev.

During a press conference–the leaders confirmed their commitment to maintain their cease-fire in the conflict zone.

Ter-Petrosyan said that the future handling of the Karabakh crisis will be greatly influenced by the press coverage of the situation.

During the meeting between Yeltsin and Ter-Petrosyan–The sides confirmed their readiness to strengthen interstate relations and to cooperate on the principles of equality and mutual consideration of each other’s interests–governmental spokesperson Levon Zourabian reported.

The Armenia-Russia accord on friendship–cooperation and security currently in force was signed five years ago.

The presidents stated with satisfaction a mutual desire to more actively and insistently pursue a coordinated line within the Commonwealth of Independent States–as well as to push the Armenian leadership towards a wider integration into the Commonwealth.

They emphasized a necessity to more actively search for constructive solutions for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
