Electoral Legislation Forum Planned in Yerevan

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–An IFES-initiated and organized forum dedicated to the electoral legislation is scheduled to be held in Yerevan Thursday.

Issues such as the structure of election committees–the suffrage of servicemen and other special groups–the work of local observers are expected to be raised at the forum. According to IFES–the forum will consist of three parts. In the first portion all projects by working groups with their own variants of solutions to these key tasks will be brought up for discussion–after which representatives of relevant groups will answer the audience’s questions.

Following this–international experts representing IFES–the Council of Europe and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights will report on matters concerning electoral legislation.

International experts will also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each group’s proposals. The closing meeting will be attended by representatives of election committees.
