YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–At a special parliament meeting deputies turned down the proposal by the Republic faction to set up an interim commission to deal with abuses. 78 of the 161 registered deputies backed the proposal–29 voted against it–while 32 deputies abstained from voting. 22 deputies did not participate in the voting.
CPA and Shamiram factions voted against the proposal. NDU and NSDU factions haven’t been attending parliament sessions since September 26.
The Republic faction proposed to set up an interim commission of 15 people to assist government bodies dealing with abuses and to promote better legislation in this field.
