ANKARA (Itar-Tass)–Azeri President Gaidar Aliyev urged Armenia to respect the territorial integrity of his country. Speaking at an international business conference in Istanbul Monday–Aliyev called on Armenia to comply with the decisions adopted by the latest summit meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Lisbon concerning Nagorno-Karabakh.
"Azerbaijan has been observing the cease-fire for three years. By putting an end to confrontation we would help promote the prosperity of the region’s nations," he said.
However–Levon Ter-Petrosyan said his country cannot make certain concessions in Nagorno-Karabakh–but he did not elaborate.
Tuesday–the two officials met in a bid to find a solution to the protracted dispute over Nagorno-Karabakh.
The officials did not make any statemen’s to the press. But sources close to the Armenian delegation said they had failed to make progress during their 45-minute talk.
"We will try to reach peace in the Caucasus–which would boost cooperation among all countries of the Black Sea region," he said.
