Prelate Mardirossian Ordained a Bishop

ANTELIAS–Under the auspices of His Holiness Aram I–Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia–Right Reverends Moushegh Mardirossian–Dirayr Panossian–Varoujan Hergelian–Khajag Hagopian and Sebouh Sarkissian were ordained bishops–Sunday–at the St. Gregory the Illuminator Holy Cathedral in Antelias–Lebanon. The ceremony was officiated by Archbishop Souren Kataroyan–Prelate of the Perian Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Syria.

In accordance with the customs and rules of the Armenian Apostolic Church–following Holy Mass at the Cathedral–a procession including the aforementioned Right Reverends–officiator Archbishop Kataroyan–Archbishops Zareh Aznavourian and Oshagan Choloyan–as well as other religious. The procession was led by Aram I–who was adorned with ceremonial attire.

The Catholicos prayed above the kneeling Right Reverends as they surrendered their current titles. The ceremony came to completion when Aram I anointed the reverends’ foreheads and thumbs with holy water. The bishops were then adorned with appropriate capes–canes and rings. The Catholicos delivered a sermon emphasizing the significance of honest and devoted servitude.

Following the ceremony–the newly anointed bishops headed towards the Catholicosate in order to embrace Aram I’s right hand. In recognition and appreciation of his unbound devotion and meritorious service–
