YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Campaigns for the September 1 presidential elections have begun in Karabakh. As reported by the Karabakh Central Electoral Committee–eight regional (city) and 172 precinct commissions have already been formed.
Unlike in the past–strict terms for running election campaigns were set–particularly for nomination and registration of candidates. Documents needed for nomination of contenders must be presented to the CEC within three days–no later than 24 days before the elections. Only ten days are allocated for collecting signatures in support of candidates. Candidates’ registration will start twelve days before and end no later than nine days before the day of polls. Soon the Central Electoral Committee will produce a publication outlining the electoral process.
