More Groups Voice Support for Stepanakert Statement

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Karabakh committee "Helsinki Initiative 92" officially announced Monday its intention to join the "Stepanakert statement" which calls for unification of all national forces in support of Karabakh–said Karabakh parliament member Karen Ohanjanian–and coordinator of "Helsinki Initiative-92".

"When the entire Armenian nation encounters the problem of not only self-determination–but also survival–the indifference toward its fate is equivalent to the betrayal of the national ideal," Ohanjaniansaid.

According to him–today–each Armenian–regardless of his societal status–should remember that our descendants will not forgive the betrayal of ideals in 1988.

The Social-Democratic Party of Armenia issued a statement Monday saying that "being concerned with the current situation in the Karabakh conflict and realizing the acuteness of the moment–the SDPA joins the Stepanakert statement and voices its readiness and resoluteness to contribute to the strengthening of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic."
