75th Anniversary of Caucasian Special Frontier District Marked

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenia’s Prime Minister Robert Kocharian met with representatives of the "Hayastan" troops Friday–congratulating them on the 75th anniversary of the special frontier district by saying that cooperation with Russian frontier troops in guarding Armenia’s borders is a sign of the centuries-old friendship between the Armenian and Russian peoples.

Kocharian was informed about the current state of affairs by the commander of the "Hayastan" troops–Yevgeni Potekhin. He said Armenian and Russian frontier guards serve under conditions of trust and mutual understanding. He also emphasized the positive attitude towards the soldiers on the part of the population.

The meeting was attended by Russian Ambassador to Armenia Andrey Ournov and commander of the border troops of the Interior and National Security Ministry of Armenia–Levon Stepanian.
