YEREVAN (Fact)–French Ambassador to Armenia Michel LeGrand held a press conference Thursday where he outlined the progress of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s Minsk Group and reported on the mediating group’s latest trip to the region.
The Ambassador pointed out that all talks were being conducted secretly–and the outcome of those talks would be publicized once all parties had reached a conclusion.
The French diplomat also said that the objective of the Minsk Group was not to force an agreement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict or pressure any side to a compromise. Rather–the co-chairmen have provided their suggestions and principles for a framework of peace to the talks–with the aim of consolidating opposing positions and acquiring new proposals emanating from those suggestions.
"The sides [to the conflict] have already presented their suggestions and the Minsk Group has articulated its expectations. Thus–the issue at hand is to see what changes will occur to those suggestions," explained LeGrand.
