Russia Requests Membership in Transcaucasian Banking Control Group

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Russia’s Central Bank filed an official application for membership in Regional Group of Transcaucasus and Central Asia States of the Basel Committee for Banking Control.

In a letter addressed to Chairman of the Regional Group Rouben Valessian–Chairman of the Russian Central Bank Sergey Dubinin stressed the importance of multilateral and large-scale cooperation among banking control agencies of CIS-member countries. Dubinin also emphasized that the creation of international organizations for banking control would promote wide discussion of urgent problems of development of banking systems in countries-participants–mutual exchange of expertise in the area of banking control and strengthening of national control systems.

The Regional Group of Transcaucasus and Central Asia States of the Basel Committee for Banking Control was founded in erevan in the fall of 1995. It includes all countries of Transcaucasus and Centrtal Asia except for Azerbaijan.
