YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Levon Ter-Petrosyan left on his official visit to Moscow Thursday.
His entourage includes among others–spokesperson Levon Zourabian–Defense Minister Vazgen Sargssian–Foreign Minister Alexander Arzoumanian–chief of government administration Shahen Karamanoukian and Yerevan Mayor Vano Siradeghian.
The visiting delegation will stay at the Kremlin–while it is expected that a significant number of treaties will be signed.
Ter-Petrosyan and his delegation was met at the Venukovo-Two Airport by Russian Federation deputy premier Anatoli Choubai along with his wife–Russian Ambassador to Armenia Andrey Urnov with his wie and Armenian Ambassador to Russia Gagak Shahbazyan also accompanied by his wife.
Upon being situated at the Kremlin–Ter-Petrosyan visited the State Duma and where he met with Genady Seleznyov as well as Yegor Stroyev.
According to press services–informal conversations held thus far have included discussions on the development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
As for the settlement of then Karabakh conflict–Ter-Petrosyan was reproted saysing–"The fact that the cease-fire has beein in place in the region for three years is a great achievement. Despite the essential disagreemen’s between the sides–it can not be said that the peaceful process has come to a dead-lock."
Ter-Petrossian attached great importance to the role of Russia in the regulation of the Karabakh negotiations.
According to the Duma spekaer–a very strong and influential pro Armenian lobby exists within the legislative body and that lobby work on every level to expand relations with Armenia.
"We would like the relations between our states to develop not only at the parliamentary level. Armenia’s may be sure that Russia’s are indeed their friends," said the speaker.
