Bureau Member Discusses Meeting With Government Officials

In a Hayots Ashkhar interview–Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau member Mardoun Matevossian provided information regarding the Saturday–September 20–meeting between ARF representatives and those of the Ter-Petrosyan Administration.

Regarding the purpose of the meeting–Matevossian mentioned that its necessity was cited during an April meeting. During that meeting–with the same representatives–it was decided that subsequent meetings would be held. The Sept. 20 marked the first of a series of meetings. He said that communication is necessary in maintaining relations between any political forces and governmen’s.

Matevossian stated that topics discussed were the usual issues of mutual concern such as Artsakh–Armenia Diaspora relations–domestic politics–etc. He said that the ARF holds solid views about resolutions and recommendations for the aforementioned issues; however–before discussion of those matters–all obstacles need to be eliminated. The Sept. 20 meeting dealt with eradication of those obstacles. He did not viewing unnecessary to mention that these issues are within the framework of national issues facing our society and our nation.

The Bureau member noted that–similar to the atmosphere during meetings held with other government officials over the past few months–this meeting served to clarify different viewpoints held and the willingness to resolve those differences in order to take practical steps forward.

He declared that the two sides will continue to meet and that the ARF will make every effort to arrive at the best outcome for the people and the government.

Matevossian also stated that these meetings will eventually lead to one with Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
