YEREVAN ("Hayastani Hanrapetutyun" daily)–Responding to a recently published report by Azeri Ambassador to Iran–Aliayr Safarli–in Iran Daily newspaper–Armenian Ambassador to Iran–Vahan Baiburtian–said the claims are baseless–and mere propaganda.
Bayburdian also addressed Armenia-Iran relations–issues of military–political and economic significance in the Caucasus region–and the Karabakh conflict.
Considering Iran one of Armenia’s most important trade partners since 1991–Bayburdian said the "the agreement–signed between Armenia and Iran in 1992–has become the basis for dynamic political and economic relations between our two countries." Responding to statemen’s by the Iranian Ambassador in Azerbaijan regarding aid provided to Armenia–Baiburtian stressed that "indeed–Iran has helped Armenia during the years of economic blockade–but we didn’t receive any military or economic aid. We refute these kinds of declarations because they are baseless and have purely propaganda goals."
