YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Prime Minister Robert Kocharian met with attendees of the "Support for the Press in the Transcaucasus" conference held in Tsakhkadzor Monday.
Among the attendees were mass media representatives from Azerbaijan–Georgia–Abkhazia and Southern Ossetia. The conference was organized by the Helsinki Assembly–the OSCE mission in Georgia and the OSCE Office of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.
Kocharian was reported to have referred to the importance of such meetings from the point of view of immediate contacts and possible exchange of opinions.
Answering questions of Azeri journalists–the premier stressed the need for direct contacts between Karabakh and Azerbaijan to create an atmosphere of mutual trust between the parties to the conflict. According to Kocharian–it is only through direct talks that a mutually acceptable resolution of the Karabakh conflict can be found.
