Montebello’s Holy Cross Cathedral–the first Armenian Apostolic church ever to be built in Los Angeles–celebrated its 75th anniversary Oct. 26 with a gala celebration that included messages of congratulations from President Bill Clinton–California Governor Pete Wilson–Montebello Mayor Bill Molinari and Pico Rivera Mayor Beatrice Proo–as well as the entire Los Angeles City Council–among others.
The event–which was held under the auspices of Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian of the Western Prelacy–was preceded by a morning mass–an afternoon luncheon–and an evening dinner-dance attended by some 500 members of the community.
