Russia Interested in Nairit Plant Products

YEREVAN (Respublica Armenia)–Director General of the Russian Elastotechnika association said that Russia is interested in buying production of the Armenian Nairit plant–the only producer of the chloroprene rubber in the CIS.

Yet Pavlov stressed that his company will buy Armenian rubber if the price is 20 percent lower than in the world market–and the quality is satisfactory.

Nairit officials have not agreed. "Selling Armenian rubber cheaply would mean admitting that its quality is poor–which isn’t true," said executive director of the plant Gagik Nersissian. He also said that the company will sell its production–worth $12 million by the end of year.

Rubber is being exported to Russia–Ukraine–and Iran–India will also start buying it soon. No quality reclamation have been made so far. Nersissian added that 99 percent of this year’s production has already been sold–and the company sees no sense in reducing price for extension of market.
