Conspiracy Against ARF Clarified by Lebanon CC

In its November 11 issue–the Hayastani Hanrapetutiun newspaper published a communiqu which the newspaper editorial offices had received via facsimile. The editorial board announced that according to their sources–a copy of the communiqu was submitted to the Armenian Embassy in Lebanon.

The communiqu–which was signed by a group calling itself the "Young ARFers" calls Levon Ter-Petrosyan Armenia’s "Supreme Politician" and expresses its support to Ter-Petrosyan’s Karabakh policy as articulated in his press conference and subsequent article.

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Central Committee of Lebanon telephoned the Armenian Ambassador in Lebanon Yervand Melkonian–who stated that he–too–had received the same communiqu via facsimile on Saturday–Nov. 8–and per protocol–he had submitted the said letter to the office of the Armenian Foreign Minister. The Ambassador stated that he was unable to check the origins of the communiqu.

The ARF Central Committee of Lebanon declares:

a. The ARF Central Committee and its rank and file have never taken such a step–and activities are not undertaken by any ARF member.

b. This defamatory communiqu and its publication is entirely a conspiracy–and its contents do not correspond to the truth and aim at creating a positive atmosphere around Ter-Petrosyan’s concessionist policies.
