Yeltsin Send Treaty to Duma

MOSCOW (Itar-Tass)–Russian President Boris Yeltsin referred the treaty of friendship–cooperation and mutual assistance between Russia and Armenia’signed in Moscow on Aug. 29–to the State Duma for ratification.

The treaty calls for stronger relations between Russia and Armenia in the political–economic–military–scientific–cultural and other areas and offers a legal foundation for the development of close cooperation between the two countries on a basis of integration.

The president appointed First Deputy Foreign Minister Boris Pastukhov as his official representative when the houses of Parliament discuss the ratification of the treaty–the presidential press service reports.
