BAKU (Armenpress/Turan)–"The process of active shuttle diplomacy has entered into a period of stagnation since the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group was formed from Russia–USA and France. This situation has come about because the Co-chairmen’s latest proposals about a stage-by-stage solution of the conflict were backed by Azerbaijan and Armenia. However–they were turned down by the Armenian community of Nagorno-Karabakh," Azeri deputy foreign minister Tofig Zulfugarov told Turan.
"The illogical position of the Armenia’s of Nagorno-Karabakh–who want to change nothing in the settlement process–is giving rise to a certain dissatisfaction on the part of the Co-chairmen. However–they have not lost hope of a breakthrough and are making fresh attempts," the diplomat commented.
"Some results have to be reported at the meeting in the Danish capital. The question is–what will the Co-chairmen bring along with them to the meeting?" Zulfugarov said.
Commenting on the "belligerent and unconstructive statemen’s" by some officials in Armenia and representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh–the deputy foreign minister described these as "populist."
Such utterances by Armenian politicians are aimed not at a settlement of the conflict but at raising their own political popularity–the diplomat stressed.
